R. Scott Harvey


     Scott became the Scout Executive/CEO of the Katahdin Area Council on January 1, 2015.

     Before being selected as the new Scout Executive in the Katahdin Area Council he served as the assistant Scout Executive/COO for the Knox Trail Council, Boy Scouts of America, since October 2005. Prior to being promoted to that role, he had served as Director of Finance and Marketing since November 2003.

     Scott grew up in Rhode Island, earning his Eagle Scout Award with Troop 22 Davisville, when he was a freshman in high school, and just before moving to Whitesboro, New York.

     A graduate of Wilkes University in Wilkes-Barre, PA, he began his professional Scouting career in 1990 as a District Executive with the Minuteman Council in Stoneham, MA. Scott served as the Camp Director at the Parker Mountain Scout Reservation in Barnstead, New Hampshire during the summers of 1991 – 1993. He subsequently served as a field director with the Boston Minuteman Council, in Boston. In 1999, he joined the staff of the Westchester-Putnam Council in Hawthorne, New York as a field director. He served as the Camp Director at the Durland Scout Center in Rye, New York that offered a sailing camp and Cub Scout day camp.

     Scott made the Boy Scouts of America his career choice following his father and brother who were also “career Scouters”. In 1998, the Harvey’s were recognized by the Boy Scouts of America as the only family with three members serving Scouting currently at the same time.
