Serving the Children of Dexter and Beyond

Terrific Kids is a student recognition program that promotes character development, self-esteem and perseverance. Students work with their teacher to establish goals to improve behavior, peer relationships, attendance or schoolwork and to reach their goal during a specific time period. All students reaching their goals are recognized as Terrific Kids! Each month there is a ceremony honoring those students that have attained their goals and they receive tokens and a certificate from the Dexter Sunrise Kiwanis. They also, have their picture posted in designated sponsor stores to redeem a store coupon. It is a great incentive program for the 3rd graders at Ridge View Community School.

Terrific Kids is a Kiwanis sponsored activity that many clubs participate in.  Students work with their classroom teachers on goals to improve behavior and other areas of performance.  Kiwanis clubs show support by attending recognition for children that are reaching their goals and financial support for some activities.  The kids get certificates and other inducements when their performance shows improvement.  They are Terrific Kids.
